Local Government and Schools (LGS)
A Letter from the 2009 Campaign Leadership Cecil R. "Rhu" Harris, Jr., County Administrator & Stewart D. Roberson, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
Dear Fellow Employees: Hanover County is honored to be chairing the 2009 Local Government and Schools (LGS) United Way campaign. Much has changed since we last led the LGS campaign in 2005, but what has not changed is our commitment to United Way and our community. Our message is to Live United. Simply put, it’s the idea that we are all connected and that our community is stronger when all of us have the opportunity for a good life. Each of us has the power to provide opportunities for positive change and together we have tremendous impact. Through United Way, we are brought together for a common purpose. Read more . . .

United Way congratulates the students from 38 Chesterfield County public elementary schools who participated for the first time in the annual campaign. Elementary children from throughout the county contributed their spare change to make a big difference.
More than $4,000 was collected in just one week as students enthusiastically deposited their coins in five gallon Diamond Springs water bottles. The children are a shining example of even the youngest coming together to help the community.
This year, the campaign will expand to include middle school students throughout the county.
