American Red Cross: Southside Area Chapter
The American Red Cross, Southside Area Chapter, provides humanitarian services in the area of emergency, health, safety and education. The Chapter provides 24-hour service to members of the military to help arrange for emergency leave. We also provide comprehensive and far-reaching assistance to families who have been displaced from their home due to disasters. The Chapter also offers education and training so that individuals may be certified in First Aid, CPR, babysitting, and blood-borne pathogens.
Programs Supported by the Community Action Fund:
The Disaster Services program is continually on-call and prepared to mobilize supplies and volunteers in the event of an emergency. During the critical first hours after a disaster, Red Cross provides victims with guidance and assistance so that they can begin rebuilding their lives. Last year, the Southside chapter provided emergency shelter, food, and clothing to 839 individuals. Most of those served did not have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance.
