Foster Grandparent Program of Petersburg

The Foster Grandparent program allows seniors to help meet the needs of young children and teenagers in the community. The organization serves Petersburg, Colonial Heights, Hopewell, Southern Chesterfield, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Sussex and Surry counties. Last year, 109 Foster Grandparents served as mentors, tutors, special listeners, and daily visitors in 54 host agencies in the Greater Petersburg area. All seniors in the program had incomes below $15,000 and 87% of them had incomes below $10,000. All Foster Grandparents reported that their quality of life improved after participating in the program.
