What is the Greater Richmond Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition?
The Greater Richmond Earned Income Tax Credit Coalition (GREITCC) was formed in October 2002 in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service. Their goal is to address economic issues that negatively impact the community like unclaimed tax credits and dollars lost in tax preparation fees and refund anticipation loans.
This community-based partnership is made up of 25 social service, non-profit, faith-based, business and government organizations. Together they share a commitment to make a difference in the lives of working families by advocating for the Earned Income Tax Credit, providing free tax preparation, and offering financial literacy guidance and education.
In the 2009 filing season GREITCC electronically filed 1763 returns with a total of $1,865,398 returned to the community. In addition to refunds received by working families, an estimated $346,800 was saved in tax prep fees.
