Congratulations to National Philanthropy Day Honorees

For National Philanthropy Day 2011, several of our region's dedicated philanthropists and volunteers were recognized by the Association of Fundraising Professionals' Central Virginia Chapter for their outstanding contributions to our local community.

Some of the recipients are part of the United Way family, and all of them are giving, advocating and volunteering to help people in need and make our region stronger. Congratulations!

  • Corporate Philanthropist of the Year: MWV Corp., a Gold Contributor ($250,000 to $499,999) to United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg.

  • Foundation Philanthropist of the Year: Jessie Ball duPont Fund.

  • Individual Philanthropist of the Year: Alan I. Kirshner, a member of United Way's Alexis de Tocqueville Society.

  • Lifetime Achievement in Philanthropy: John W. and Jane M. Roberts.

  • Spirit of Giving award: Linsey Kornblau.

  • Volunteer of the Year: Lisa Schaffner, a member of United Way's Women's Leadership Initiative.

  • Youth Philanthropist of the Year: Saints $100 for 100 (St. Christopher's and St. Catherine's School)
