It's Not What You Earn -- It's What You Keep
How can you and your family hold on to more of your income?
Watch this online episode of "Start the Conversation," presented by Leadership Metro Richmond and WCVE PBS, and learn about:
- MetroCASH, one of United Way's partners, and the free tax preparation services offered by MetroCASH. Those services are available now at 14 sites around the region.
- Virginia Individual Development Accounts (VIDA), which help those who are qualified save money for homeownership, education or starting a business. For every $1 you save, VIDA will match $2.
- 2-1-1, the statewide hotline that you can call for information and referrals to programs in your area that provide help. Your United Way is home to one of Virginia's five Information & Referral Centers that answer those calls.
To maintain a family's financial stability, it takes employment opportunities, stable income, affordable housing and careful management of expenses, says Heather Turbyne-Pollard, Vice President of Community Impact for United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg. This episode of "Start the Conversation" illustrates how United Way and partners like MetroCASH and VIDA are working to help people in our region keep more of what they earn.
