Our Work
Our community can only be successful if people of all ages have access to the building blocks of a good life: quality education, stable income and good health. We all have a stake in creating a healthy and prosperous community. Join United Way in our work to:
- Prepare local children for school.
- Help youth graduate from high school on time.
- Support families and individuals in crisis.
- Assist older adults in aging with dignity and independence.
- Unite for all.
Our community impact work is completed under the guidance and decision-making of several volunteer groups. More than 100 local volunteers are involved with our four Action Councils to set clear visions and goals, evaluate local programs and recommend funding in our focus areas of Education, Income and Health. Their work is overseen by the Community Building Committee of our local Board of Directors. These dedicated volunteers lead the way to solutions for a better community:

United Way's Grant Awards for 2012-2013
United Way has a significant research and community planning function and regularly conducts and collaborates on community initiatives. We identify the region's most pressing needs, then develop solutions and invest in the programs and initiatives that will make the greatest impact.
