The purpose of the RVA Youth Development Network is to bring people together who are working in the out-of-school time, summer camp, youth development, and education fields for networking and shared learning.
The network is a collaborative effort of NextUp RVA, United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, YMCA of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, and the Mary and Frances Youth Center at VCU.
Next Meeting! September 6, 2017 from 9-11am at United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg.
This meeting will feature Charles Dyson, Associate Director of Side By Side (formerly ROSMY), who will speak on how out-of-school time programs can support LGBTQ youth.
Charles Dyson is Associate Director of Side by Side and manages Side by Side’s training programs offered to human service providers and school personnel on effectively working with LGBTQ+ youth. Charles holds a B.S. in Psychology, with a B.A. and M.A. in Communication from Virginia Tech. His past experience includes working at United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg, Equality Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Charles has also served on the board of Diversity Richmond and currently sits on the board of Safe Harbor.
Save the Dates! In 2017, the RVA Youth Development Network will meet from 9-11am on September 6, and December 6 at United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg. The December 6 meeting will focus on supporting young people who are currently (or have) experienced homelessness.
