Two Kindergarten Countdown Camp Classrooms in Goochland
Kindergarten Countdown Camp is a free summer learning program for rising kindergarten students with little to no preschool experience. In 2021, our local United Way hosted two Kindergarten Countdown Camp classrooms in Goochland, helping a total of 17 Goochland children and families.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program Delivered $208,717 in Tax Refunds to 129 Goochland Households
Our Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program offers free tax preparation services for families and individuals with income of $56,000 or less. In 2021, our team of trained staff and volunteers helped people throughout Goochland get their full refund and bring money back into the community.
211 is a free, confidential referral and information helpline and website that connects people of all ages to essential health and human services, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2021, 211 Virginia received 244 calls from Goochland County, helping connect Goochland residents to critical resources like healthcare access, housing support, rental assistance and more.
$80,787 Invested in Goochland Nonprofits, 635 Goochland Residents Served
United Way is one of the largest nonprofit funding organizations in the region. Our current funding cycle is delivering $80,787 to 22 programs at 21 local nonprofits serving Goochland residents. We support local organizations like GoochlandCares, which provides comprehensive medical services to older adults throughout the county. 150 Goochland Families Received United Way Literacy Kits
Throughout the year, United Way collects and assembles Literacy Kits that are distributed to students in our region. Each kit includes school supplies, an age-appropriate book and information for families so students can be prepared for kindergarten and reading at grade-level by third grade. This year, 150 Goochland County students and their families received United Way Literacy Kits.
