Designation Policy

United Way donors have the option to designate some or all of their gift to other 501c3 organizations.

For more information on the organizations currently receiving funding through United Way of Greater Richmond community investments, go here.

If you are participating in a United Way workplace campaign and want to designate some of your gift to another organization, use the “Investment Options” tool on United Way’s pledge form or e-Pledge, United Way’s online giving platform for workplace campaigns.

Designated gifts may incur a small processing fee depending on the designation agency.

  • Gifts to other local United Way offices (i.e. Rappahannock United Way) will not incur any processing fees.
  • Gifts designated to 501c3 organizations that are not local United Ways will incur a 5% processing fee, capped at a maximum of $250 per gift.

Your employer may cover these designation fees. We encourage you to check with your employee campaign manager for more information.

All designated gifts will be paid out quarterly based on collections.
