United Way Announces 2017-18 Book Drive

You can help children prepare for kindergarten by donating books for United Way Literacy Kits!

United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg is collecting new, age-appropriate books for four- and five-year-old students to build literacy kits for young children. Literacy and early learning are critical to ensuring kids are ready for kindergarten and reading at grade-level by third grade. Help students reach these important Steps to Success by donating books or hosting a book drive of your own.

Here’s how you can help:

Host a Book Drive

Bring together friends, neighbors or colleagues and host a book drive to maximize your efforts. Click here for ideas and tools to help get started.

Donate Books

You can easily donate books to help this effort. Here are two easy options for donating before our April 4 deadline:

  • Order them through our Amazon Registry and have them shipped directly to us.
  • Bring them to our office and we’ll take it from there.
