United Way Partners with Hanover County Government to Administer Basic Needs Grant Funds

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic continues to place a large financial strain on many households across our region.

United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg is partnering with Hanover County to provide relief by delivering funding to eligible 501(c)(3) organizations that provide Hanover residents with emergency basic needs, such as food or financial assistance for housing.

These funds have been made available by the Hanover County Board of Supervisors from the County’s Coronavirus Relief Funds under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Hanover County Government is a longtime supporter of United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg. United Way will manage and distribute these funds without any administrative fees. United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg will also oversee the application process and sub-grantee fund reporting.

“Every day, the challenges presented by COVID-19 grow bigger and more people are at risk of losing basic needs like food and housing, which is why these funds are so critical,” said James Taylor, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg. “We are pleased to partner with Hanover County Government to help local nonprofits provide immediate assistance to Hanover residents during this difficult time.”
