SunTrust Employees Exceed $1 Million United Way Campaign Goal
Richmond, Va. (Nov. 29, 2016) – SunTrust employees in Central Virginia recently raised more than $1 million for United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg in their annual workplace campaign. The campaign supports United Way’s work to enhance prosperity and resiliency in the Richmond and Petersburg region.
“We’re thankful for SunTrust’s tremendous generosity and the commitment of its employees during their 2016 annual workplace campaign,” said James Taylor, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg. “We value SunTrust’s commitment to the community and the knowledge and resources the company brings to promoting financial stability in families and for people living in our region.”
In addition to raising more than $1 million, SunTrust employees participated in several United Way-led volunteer efforts throughout the year. In October alone, SunTrust volunteers led financial literacy workshops at Faith Community Baptist Church, helped sort donations and packed boxes at FeedMore and gave time at South Richmond Adult Daycare.
“SunTrust is proud to support United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg as well as other United Way chapters across our footprint because of the positive impact it has on our communities,” said Phillip Avant, Central Virginia market president and commercial banking team leader of SunTrust Bank. “Our purpose is to light the way to financial well-being for our clients and communities. That’s why our teammates in Central Virginia came together with our United Way partners and exceeded our goal by raising a $1 million to deliver on our purpose.”
