Funding Impact: January – December 2020

United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg is a major funder to more than 50 local organizations, providing millions of dollars annually to a range of agencies working on the front lines to create lasting change in communities throughout the region. 

2020 was the first year of a three-year funding cycle that will deliver $8.7 million in funding for 74 programs at 54 local nonprofits.    


United Way Funding Impact, January – December 31, 2020*

From January 1 through December 31, 2021, United Way’s funding empowered local nonprofits to help over 66,600 people in our area.

United Way believes community success begins with basic need. Families and individuals must have a safe home with healthy food for everyone who lives there in order to work toward a higher degree of prosperity. We fund 15 programs at 18 local nonprofits that work with older adults in our area. Studies have shown that kids who are reading proficiently by third grade are four times more likely to graduate high school on time. We fund four programs at five local nonprofits that work with older adults in our area. As the total number of adults over the age of 65 in our area continues to increase, we are committed to helping older adults stay healthy and connected. We fund 15 programs at 13 local nonprofits that work with older adults in our area.
