Huguenot High School: Community Response Resources and Support

The United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg team joins the community in mourning the tragic loss of Richmond Public School student Shawn Jackson and his father Renzo Smith after Tuesday’s shooting following the Huguenot High School graduation. Our hearts go out to the families of the victims as well as many others who were injured and traumatized by this tragedy.

No one should ever have to experience violence, yet too many Richmonders know its devastating impact firsthand. We must work and come together to prevent violence in our community.

United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg is actively convening resources for people impacted by Tuesday’s shooting.

If you would like to support the families of the victims of this tragedy, you can donate to the RPS Trauma Healing Response Fund. This fund was established by the RPS Education Foundation, and donations will aid RPS victims of gun violence and their families. If you are seeking mental health and support resources for yourself or someone affected by the tragedy, we have listed resources on the help page of our website and will continue to add more as they become available.

As Richmond Public School graduations are rescheduled in the coming weeks, we encourage our partners and neighbors to support the students as they celebrate their accomplishments.
