Helping local nonprofits provide
assistance in critical areas
The Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) helps fund non-profits and public agencies that are providing food services, shelter, rent/mortgage and utility assistance to their local residents. If you are a resident of Charles City County, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie County, Henrico County, Petersburg or Richmond and are in need of one or more of these services, below you will find contact information for all associated agencies according to which type of assistance they are able to provide in which localities, via EFSP funds. Please note that this assistance is not available directly through United Way, nor are all services available through this program.
The Richmond, Petersburg, Hopewell, and Prince George Local Boards of the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (ESFP) have been awarded funds for non-profit and public agencies currently providing rent/mortgage and utility assistance, shelter, and food services for residents of Charles City County, Henrico County, Richmond City, Colonial Heights City, Dinwiddie County, Petersburg City, Hopewell City, and Prince George County.

If your agency is an existing user in the online grant portal, please enter your credentials and log in. If you forgot your password, please use the “Forgot your Password?” link to reset your password. If you are a new user, please click on “Create New Account” to complete the registration process and create your logon credentials.
Submission Details
The deadline for agencies to submit applications is Tuesday, April 23, by 5:00 p.m. After the deadline, all four Local Boards will review submitted applications and will meet to make funding decisions for Phase 41. Once funding determinations have been made applicants will be notified by email and/or mail.
Note: If an individual is seeking assistance, they can apply with the non-profit and/or public agencies that are awarded funding for EFSP Phase 41.
