New Early Learning Trail Installation at Huguenot Park

RICHMOND, Va. (May 8, 2023) – United Way of Greater Richmond & Petersburg will convene C-Fit Community and Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation to install a sixth United Way Steps to Success Early Learning Trail at Huguenot Park, 10901 Robious Road, on Wednesday, May 10, 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The installation will be followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

These interactive learning trails are located at various sites throughout United Way’s region, including Flora Hill Park, Pine Camp Cultural Arts & Community Center, Mosby Court Community, Rockwood Park and Bensley Park. The trails feature signs that display expert-approved learning games and activities that children and their caregivers can interact with to boost school readiness of children in their preschool years.

C-Fit Community and Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation are teaming up to install the trail, which will increase opportunities for healthy play as well as improve access to educational resources for the Chesterfield community.

“We appreciate both of our partners’ efforts to bring this early-learning resource to the Chesterfield community,” said Tiffani Beissel, United Way Volunteer Manager. “This will be Chesterfield County Parks & Recreation’s third trail installation, and we’re grateful to see C-Fit Community investing in new ways to engage and enhance the lives of young people and families in our region. These educational trails help make learning fun and approachable for kids who have not yet had much classroom experience.”

At the event, local leaders from Chesterfield will be present to speak about the impact of the Early Learning Trail. Additionally, United Way partners who focus on topics ranging from early childhood education to health will have tables set up at the park to distribute information, resources and giveaways for parents. Publix employees will be present to volunteer as Trail Guides to lead groups of children through the Early Learning Trail.
